Jackson, the Iron-Willed Commander Review

Andrew Jackson, The Iron-Willed Commander, is an extraordinary book! I knew he was the 7th President of the United States of America but wow, what I found out about his life is incredible. This book covers his life from start to finish. From the time he was orphaned at 15 to how both his brothers were killed, and then how He became one of the greatest Generals that ever walked the face of this earth! It shows you the Andrew Jackson as a sophiscated young lawyer and also how he met, fell in love, and eventually married the beautiful and sweet Rachel Donelson. This book actually covers some of the sweetest and heart-wrenching letters and prayers that Jackson wrote to Rachel while he was at war. Some may not know this but Jackson was involved in more than one duel. During one of them He was shot in the chest, just a couple inches from his heart but Old Hickory stood firm and raised his gun and shot and killed his adversary. Andrew Jackson was amazing General and war hero. He even got the name Old Hickory for being so tough. Of course this book, Jackson; The Iron-Willed Commander, expels the story of the Battle of New Orleans and how Old Hickory became an American Icon! From his orphaned childhood to his youthful lawyer days, raging warrior to Commander in Chief, Andrew Jackson was a true American Hero!

The American Patriots Bible

Wow! That kind of says it all. The American Patriots Bible was an amazing edition, full of so many great quotes, stories, and facts. From Genesis to Revelation the Bible is the most exciting and incredible book that ever was written! I have to admit that I’v never seen the Bible in this way before. The American Patriots Bible gives you a whole new perspective on America, freedom , liberty, our founding fathers, and how the Bible has influenced every generation since the birth of our Nation. This edition takes you into the heart of our Nation during the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I and World War II. It also gives parts of speeches and prayers that some of the American Presidents gave, such as Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, and Ronald Reagan. It also has little footnotes that show where certain American Presidents placed their hands on certain Scripture when they took the Oath of Office.  It has a whole section on Monuments to American Patriotism with Scriptures and where you can find them in our Nations Capital, Washington, DC. This Bible covers the subject of equal rights and has excerpts from the great Martin Luther King Jr. All in all the American Patriots Bible is extraordinary and it helps me to realize that God is still working in America and I believe He is Not done with us yet!

Book Review: "Nearing Home"

Well, let me first say that this was a pretty good book!  I enjoyed reading it and that is not a surprise because I  always love Rev. Graham’s writings and teachings.  “Nearing Home” was an interesting book and when I first saw the title and started reading it, my first impression was that this book is for old people.  I thought that a young person in their twenties wouldn’t have any need or get much out of this particularly book. Well to be honest, I have since changed my mind and opinion.

This book covers grief, aging gracefully, retirement, and even the golden years. I guess what I liked the most about “Nearing Home” is that it also talks not just about all these subjects, but Mr. Graham describes a lot of personal,  private feelings and emotions that he had to face in his life.

Rev. Graham talks about how God has a plan for everybody’s life and that there is always a purpose to live for.  That a purpose-driven life is not just for the young person in college with his whole life ahead of him, or the healthy businessman who is on top of the world.  Rev. Graham explains that even the elderly have a purpose in life.  God has a plan for the life of an 80 year old woman in the local nursing home and He also has a future.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re sick, feeble, elderly, in a nursing home, or even near death, God has a purpose for the moments in your life.
