Book Review: "Nearing Home"

Well, let me first say that this was a pretty good book!  I enjoyed reading it and that is not a surprise because I  always love Rev. Graham’s writings and teachings.  “Nearing Home” was an interesting book and when I first saw the title and started reading it, my first impression was that this book is for old people.  I thought that a young person in their twenties wouldn’t have any need or get much out of this particularly book. Well to be honest, I have since changed my mind and opinion.

This book covers grief, aging gracefully, retirement, and even the golden years. I guess what I liked the most about “Nearing Home” is that it also talks not just about all these subjects, but Mr. Graham describes a lot of personal,  private feelings and emotions that he had to face in his life.

Rev. Graham talks about how God has a plan for everybody’s life and that there is always a purpose to live for.  That a purpose-driven life is not just for the young person in college with his whole life ahead of him, or the healthy businessman who is on top of the world.  Rev. Graham explains that even the elderly have a purpose in life.  God has a plan for the life of an 80 year old woman in the local nursing home and He also has a future.  It doesn’t matter whether you’re sick, feeble, elderly, in a nursing home, or even near death, God has a purpose for the moments in your life.
